"Korin" is Korin Ogata, an Edo painter.
The Rimpa School, which takes his name, is a fusion of pure art and products inherited by Koetsu Honami and Sotatsu Tawaraya, the brothers of Korin Ogata and Kenzan Ogata.
It is an important school of Japanese art that symbolizes the SUPER FLAT advocated by Takashi Murakami.

Born into a kimono merchant, Kariganeya, he was exposed to paintings and handicrafts from a young age, and grew up enjoying performing arts.
The Ogata brothers actively collaborated with each other, with Korin pursuing painting and Kenzan pursuing ceramics.
They developed the techniques established by Koetsu and Sotatsu three-dimensionally through pottery and other products, broadening the scope of Rinpa expression.
The paintings and handicrafts they left behind make us feel the beauty of Japan itself, which has not faded even with the arrival of modern Western art.

Murakami has created a number of series based on the chrysanthemum figures drawn on fans made by Ogata Korin.
The original painting is a fan, but when converted to Murakami's painting, it is a large work of 1m to 1.8m.
